ZEE to launch regional channels next year

ZEE Network will be expanding its bouquet of channels internationally with the launch of two regional channels.

According to IndianTelevision ZEE Telugu and ZEE Kannada will be launching in the first quarter of 2007.

It is not yet known, which international territory ZEE will be launching the channels first. The US, UK and South Africa are the three key markets the channels will most likely to launch in.

In the UK, ZEE Network currently only broadcast two regional channels Alpha ETC Punjabi and ZEE Gujarati.

There were reports earlier with the ZEE News channel launching in the UK but seems like officials at ZEE have gone cold on the idea. We still await ZEE Network UK to comment on its two new channels.

At BizAsia.co.uk, we were previously told that one new channel will be launching in the last quarter of 2006, with a second to follow in the first quarter of 2007. Could the two regional channels be the one that have been talked about or are there others in mind? Could ZEE News still be launching? Keep it with BizAsia.co.uk for further updates.
