ZEE Network has begun phasing out its popular ZEE Muzic brand, to make way for its new lifestyle and showbiz channel, Zing, in the UK market.
In March this year, it was announced by ZEE Network that it was to give ZEE Muzic a major facelift, with a new name, logo and positioning.
ZEE Muzic’s new look as Zing will entail of music, movies, humour, animation, spoof shows and celebrity lifestyle including gossip and the latest trends. It۪s being described as a rival to popular Hindi showbiz channel, Zoom TV India.
Zing has only recently completed its launch in India as it was introduced in phases over the past few months. ZEE Network UK has confirmed to BizAsia.co.uk that Zing will fully replace the ZEE Muzic brand on Friday 2nd October. Until then, we will get tasters of what Zing will offer.
From today, the ZEE Muzic on-screen logo is flashing both ZEE Muzic and Zing ids to alert viewers about the imminent change.
Furthermore, whilst majority of the ZEE Muzic schedule will remain in place when Zing arrives, a few more Bollywood-driven shows will be added. A new local show is also being planned to commence in November/December. Currently, only ‘Brits Bollywood’ is produced locally for the channel.
Zing India currently broadcasts shows like ‘Zing Scoops’ (showbiz news bites), ‘Zing Face To Face’ (short celebrity interviews) and ‘Zing Ne Bana Di Jodi’ (dating reality show).
Zing will remain free-to-air through Sky Digital.
