Vivek Oberoi to produce shelved Mani Ratnam film

Vivek Oberoi has given life to many of his��characters. His performances in ‘Company’ (2002) and ‘Saathiya’ (2002) are still��widely remembered today.��His 2004 portrayal of Arjun in��’Yuva’��had also��garnered him much praise, and Oberoi was��supposed to pair up with the film’s director Mani Ratnam, for a remake of the Tamil film, ‘7/G Rainbow Colony’. Unfortunately, the film never took off because of the director’s exit. Now, news has it that Oberoi has bought the rights of the film and plans to produce and star in the��Hindi version.

According to the Mumbai Mirror, Oberoi has��seen the film numerous times, and is excited about the project. “Everything was in place and Vivek was kicked about the project but it never took off. I have seen the original four times and so has Vivek who has purchased the remake rights and will produce it besides playing the lead. Now, we finally have the Hindi version.”

‘7/G Rainbow Colony’ has also been remade��in Telugu, as��’7/G Brundhavan Colony,’ ‘Prem Amar’ in Bengali, and ‘Gilli’ in Kannada. Meanwhile, Oberoi is currently by wife Priyanka’s side as they prepare for the arrival of��their newest��addition to the family, after son Vivaan Veer.
