Vidyut Jammwal to play Dhalsim in ‘Street Fighter’ movie

Legendary Pictures and Capcom’s live-action adaptation of the ‘Street Fighter’ video game franchise will be released in October 2026, filmed for IMAX®. The project marks the first title to come through Legendary’s new global distribution agreement with Paramount Pictures.

Currently in production, the film is directed by Kitao Sakurai and is set in 1993. It follows Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo), estranged fighters who reunite when Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament. The story unfolds as they confront a deadly conspiracy that forces them into both personal and physical battles.

The cast also includes Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim. Jammwal, best known for his work in Hindi-language action films such as ‘Commando’ and ‘Khuda Haafiz’, is regarded for his expertise in martial arts, particularly Kalaripayattu, which he often integrates into his on-screen performances.

The adaptation aims to capture the spirit of the 1990s arcade classic while introducing the franchise to a new generation of audiences.
