Varun Dhawan to play a Maharashtrian character in ‘Mr Lele’?

Varun Dhawan has reunited with Shashank Khaitan for the third time after ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ (2017) and ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ (2014) for ‘Mr. Lele.’

The star, who is known to be experimental with his character choices, confirmed the news and said, “Yes, I’m working with Shashank on his next. But I can’t announce the rest of the casting details. I’ll let Karan Johar sir do that.” According to a Mumbai Mirror report, Dhawan will be playing the role of a Maharashtrian character. Reports say he has to undergo training to get his accent correct, reports Bollywood Life.

“Workshops begin sometime in February and Varun is kicked to explore a new space with the film. There will be mysterious undertones to all the central characters, while the screenplay has a lot of situational humour and romance. A major chunk of the film will be shot at real locations in Mumbai,” a source informed the media. Talking about ‘Mr. Lele,’ which goes on floors in March, Dhawan said, “Talks are on (for an action film), I’m looking to explore the comic thriller genre too in Mr Lele. After reading the script, I called Shashank 109 times in two days.”

Currently, the star is busy with the promotions of ‘Street Dancer 3D,’ which releases on 24th January and clashes with Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Panga.’ Dhawan recently shared the idea about ‘Street Dancer 3D’ being made into a franchise. “There is an idea, but these films need to be done for the right reasons; like in this film, we dance for a cause. Remo keeps coming up with wonderful ideas and I’m sure after two dance films, Shraddha and I will do the next one together, with Nora joining the family too,” he said.
