Directer Ashish R. Shukla who was creative head in ‘Dev D’, has directed films like ‘Prague’, has an upcoming film Sanjay Mishra, Ram Kapoor and Raghav Juyal starrer ‘Bahut Hua Sammaan’ and now Sony LIV series ‘Undekhi’ which is set to start streaming on 10th July.
Talking about the series, he said, “It’s about an isolated resort, two cold blooded Murders, a high profile wedding, an influential family, a life threatening piece of evidence, a group of People on edge of conscience, a ruthless manhunt and a wild tribal girl amid the chaos of modern day Manali”.
He shares about the backdrop of stories being based on true event, “A cold blooded, brutal event happened a few years back in Bathinda, Punjab where a pregnant dancer was killed during an event by gun wielding drunk men. The show has been woven around that mishap with help of fictional characters and events. But the fictionalised plot twists and turns along the landscape of cold and gloomy Manali, with a colder backstory in Bengal that you saw make it a dark web of innocent lives on stake.”
On the idea behind the script, he adds, “Since I read the script, written by the great writing team of ‘Apahran’, Siddharth Sengupta and Varun Badola. It was a tight thriller with many overwhelming twists and turns. It became a responsibility to do justice with the script and face the challenges that will be seen in the show. It’s a sheer balance of coldness of it’s scenes with the dark humour in Varuns dialogs that makes it unique and entertaining despite of it’s darkness. I’m hoping it will be a winner for it’s audience.”
