UK TV Reach: Colors falls behind rivals

Colors slipped behind some of the bigger channels in terms of weekly reach in latest data from BARB for week ending Sunday 17th April 2016.

The channel was beaten in the ratings by Star Plus, which remained the market leader with 1,016,000 viewers (last week 1,022,000 viewers). However, it wasn’t the only competitor, with moving up to second place with 599,000 viewers (last week 639,000 viewers), Star Gold with 537,000 viewers (last week 474,000 viewers), Rishtey with 529,000 viewers (last week 667,000 viewers), Hum TV with 498,000 viewers (last week 412,000 viewers), SAB TV with 452,000 viewers (last week 515,000 viewers), Zing with 441,000 viewers (last week 724,000 viewers) and &TV with 433,000 viewers (last week 575,000 viewers).

Colors fell to ninth place with a reach of 420,000 viewers (last week 549,000 viewers). The channel’s ratings have had no major impact since moving down the Sky EPG earlier this month. The channel was followed in the ratings by Life Ok with 356,000 viewers, Prime TV with 343,000 viewers, Venus TV with 219,000 viewers, Akaal Channel with 204,000 viewers, Brit Asia TV with 181,000 viewers, PTC Punjabi with 178,000 viewers, Geo TV with 165,000 viewers, PTV Global with 124,000 viewers and Sikh Channel with 81,000 viewers.

ARY News remained the undisputed No.1 in the South Asian news genre with 381,000 viewers (last week 461,000 viewers), followed by Geo News with 342,000 viewers and Geo Tez with 345,000 viewers. Samaa TV was in fourth with 280,000 viewers, Dunya TV with 213,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 204,000 viewers, Aaj Tak with 142,000 viewers, ABP News with 138,000 viewers, Times Now with 51,000 viewers and News18 with 29,000 viewers.
