UK ratings: Star Plus goes up; others slide

During the World Cup 2014, UK Asian TV channels witnessed a huge fall in the ratings, however Star Plus maintained lead and saw its audience return to usual from the previous week.

According to official data from BARB for week ending Sunday 13th July, Star Plus had a weekly reach of 1,050,000 – up from 997,000 viewers. Colors was in second with 601,000 viewers – down from 702,000 viewers and Rishtey in third 544,000 viewers – down from 608,000 viewers.

The next tier saw UMP Movies in fourth with 452,000 viewers (down from 594,000 viewers), followed by Sony SAB TV with 391,000 viewers, Zing with 374,000 viewers, Star Gold with 360,000 viewers, Star Life Ok with 309,000 viewers and Lamhe was bottom with a low of 299,000 viewers. PTV Global remained last with 169,000 viewers.

ARY News continued to lead in the South Asian news genre with 384,000 viewers (up from 331,000 viewers), Geo News was next with 221,000 viewers (up from 175,000 viewers), NDTV 24×7 in third with 213,000 viewers (up from 190,000 viewers). The next lot of channels were Aaj Tak (207,000 viewers), SAMAA TV (138,000 viewers), ABP News (122,000 viewers) and News18 India (51,000 viewers).
