UK ratings: DM Global reaches ahead of rivals

DM Global made a pleasant start in the UK Asian TV ratings, according to official data released by BARB for week ending Sunday 9th November.

The channel had a bigger weekly reach than the long-standing PTC Punjabi and PTV Global. DM Global registered a weekly reach of 211,000 viewers, while PTC Punjabi was just behind with 208,000 viewers (last week 179,000 viewers) and PTV Global with 198,000 viewers (last week 125,000 viewers). It will be interesting to see how a smaller independent channel like DM Global will perform with a little bit of marketing over the next few weeks.

Star Plus was the clear leader at top with 1,128,000 viewers (last week 1,113,000 viewers), followed by UMP Movies (last week 753,000 viewers) and Colors on par with 784,000 viewers (last week 714,000 viewers) and Rishtey in third with 700,000 viewers (last week 718,000 viewers). Zing was in fourth with 568,000 viewers (536,000 viewers) and Star Gold next with 533,000 viewers (last week 430,000 viewers).

The others that followed were SAB TV with 536,000 viewers, Life Ok with 503,000 viewers, Lamhe with 392,000 viewers and Hum TV Europe with 390,000 viewers.

ARY News remained the dominant force in the news genre with 526,000 viewers (last week 518,000 viewers), followed by SAMAA TV with 303,000 viewers, Geo News with 242,000 viewers, Aaj Tak with 227,000 viewers, NDTV 24×7 with 202,000 viewers, Geo Tez with 163,000 viewers, ABP News with 141,000 viewers and News18 India with 101,000 viewers.
