For the past few days, the industry has been abuzz with rumours of Sushant Singh Rajput being roped in for Mohit Suri’s adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel, ‘Half Girlfriend’. Suri has now clarified that Singh Rajput is his leading hero and in all likelihood, Katrina Kaif, who was also rumoured for the project, maybe sign on too.

Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Mohit Suri said, “Sushant dropped by at my place last week and enacted one of the scenes from the book where Madhav is giving an interview for admission to a college. He was brilliant and added his own dimensions to the character… Since he plays a national-level basketball player, he’ll have to train in the sport… I have discussed the script with Katrina (Kaif) and I would love to work with her, but nothing has been confirmed as yet.”

On earlier rumours of the director having allegedly signed Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt for the film, Suri added, “Contrary to rumours, I hadn’t approached anyone else. Sidharth (Malhotra) and Alia (Bhatt) had come to see ‘Hamari Adhuri Kahaani’ during the edit and people concluded that I had cast them. I’d love to work with Alia but she is busy with her commitments and I don’t think that she has even read the book.”

It can be noted that this would not be the first time Singh Rajput features in a cinematic adaptation of a Chetan Bhagat novel. The actor’s debut Bollywood film, ‘Kai Po Che’ (2013), was an adaptation of Bhagat’s ‘The 3 Mistakes Of My Life’.
