Star Jalsha revives ‘Bigg Boss Bangla’ after ten-year hiatus
‘Bigg Boss Bangla’ is set to return to television, but this upcoming edition is not the show’s first outing. The Bengali version of the iconic reality‑show franchise previously aired two seasons, first in 2013 and again in 2016, both on ETV Bangla. After nearly a decade off air, the series is now being revived with renewed ambition and a refreshed creative vision.
The new season will air on Star Jalsha, with former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly stepping in as host, a move that has generated significant excitement across Bengal. The channel and production team have positioned the revival as a major cultural moment for the region.
Sumanta Bose, representing Star Plus, Star Bharat, Star Utsav, East and West Cluster, JioStar, said,
“The launch of ‘Bigg Boss Bangla’ marks a significant expansion of one of India’s most powerful entertainment franchises into a high‑potential market. For Star Jalsha, this addition represents an important milestone in our leadership journey and reinforces our commitment to delivering differentiated, large‑scale entertainment. The format has been thoughtfully reimagined to reflect Bengal’s cultural ethos while retaining the scale and intensity that define ‘Bigg Boss’. We are thrilled to have the global icon Sourav Ganguly lead this new chapter; he brings unmatched credibility, leadership and a deep emotional connection with Bengal. With Sourav Ganguly at the helm, we are presenting the show with strong ambition, deep conviction, and a clear vision to build a high‑impact non‑fiction franchise.”
