Sony TV to replace ‘Indian Idol’ with ‘X Factor’?

Sony Entertainment Television Asia is likely to replace the hit show ‘Indian Idol’ with the hugely successful concept, ‘X Factor’.

AsBizAsia.co.ukexclusively revealed in September, the channel had acquired the rights to broadcast the Indian version of the ‘X Factor’ from next year.

Both ‘Indian Idol’ and ‘X Factor’ have similar formats and so the channel is planning to rest the former after five years on-air with the latter.

Channel officials are keeping tightlipped about the plans for their new show but hearsay suggests that the ‘X Factor’ could be on-air by March.

Incidentally, the US version of ‘X Factor’ debuts on American television early next year too. The current UK series winds up next month.
