Sonam Kapoor: “I do not work for awards..I am okay with recognition”

Sonam Kapoor has come a long way since her debut with ‘Saawariya’ (2007) and while she has received immense recoginition, she is not working for awards.

Talking to PTI, Kapoor said she would rather focus on her performance than chasing after awards. The actress, who will next be seen in ‘Neerja’ said, ���I do not work for awards, I work for the craft��_I am okay with recognition. The reason the awards are important is because they give you a validation and encouragement to do more and also push you to do better because it gives a sense of competition.”

She also added that Bollywood was dominated by male actors but the trend was “slowly changing”. She said that many producers were against working on her sister’s debut film ‘Khoobsurat’ but even that has changed today.

���It changed because my sister�۪s first film did well. Now everybody wants to work with her. The first initial step is always difficult but nothing succeeds like success. The industry is male dominated but slowly it�۪s changing.�۝
