Sky to launch standalone streaming service

Sky has confirmed it will be launching a streaming device called Sky Stream as a standalone product for those who would prefer to get Sky TV over an internet connection rather than satellite.

The company is planning to launch its puck later this year, allowing people to get the full Sky TV experience through the internet.

The Sky Stream puck is currently included as part of the Sky Glass television package but will be sold independently.

The Sky Stream puck is 4K HDR capable and supports Dolby Atmos. It uses the same user interface as Sky Glass, rather than the one on Sky Q, so streams all content, including live TV.

It cannot record shows, but you can assign programming to its playlist feature. This enables you to access the catch-up and on demand versions of movies and series as the tap of a button.

Currently the following Asian channels are available for the Sky Stream pucks on Sky Glass; Utsav Plus, Utsav Bharat, Utsav Gold, Colors, Colors Rishtey, Sony TV, Sony MAX, Sony SAB, Sony MAX 2, B4U Movies, B4U Music and Sky News Arabia.
