Shehnaaz Gill’s ‘Ikk Kudi’ makes its OTT debut on Chaupal

‘Ikk Kudi’, the Punjabi drama led by Shehnaaz Gill, has begun streaming on Chaupal after earning appreciation during its theatrical run.

The film’s digital debut brings its layered, two‑timeline narrative to a wider audience, expanding its reach beyond cinema halls.

Set within the framework of family and emotional uncertainty, the story follows Simmi, a young woman on the verge of an arranged marriage. As her wedding approaches, subtle inconsistencies and unanswered questions push her to pause and seek clarity — a choice that forms the emotional core of the film. Alongside this present‑day narrative runs the 1950s love story of Simmi’s grandmother Tejo, creating a generational parallel that underscores how women across eras confront similar dilemmas around trust, security, and love.

Shehnaaz Gill plays both Simmi and Tejo, delivering a controlled, emotionally grounded performance that avoids exaggeration. The supporting cast — including Nirmal Rishi, Udaybir Sandhu, and Juss — adds to the film’s realism and family‑centred atmosphere. Director Amarjit Singh Saron leans into quiet moments instead of dramatic flourishes, allowing themes of self-awareness, honesty, and choice to guide the narrative.

Chaupal is available in the UK and globally by downloading the app on various devices, Amazon Fire TV stick, Android and Apple devices.
