Shahid Kapoor to go topless in ‘Padmavati’

Shahid Kapoor has been occupied with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavati’ of late. Before the shoot was wrapped, the actor apparently regularly took classes during the day and shot for the role at night. BizAsiaLive.com has learnt that he has several topless scenes in the film.

‘Padmavati’ is a film that Kapoor and Bhansali will be collaborating first time for. Kapoor wants to leave no stone unturned to ensure his character’s authenticity. A source informed Mumbai Mirror, “He has several shirtless sequences in the film and takes off his sweatshirt before the cameras roll”.

Much about the film has been kept under wraps, including the costumes that the characters will be seen in. A source talks about Deepika Padukone’s costumes, “While the designers are already well known in the fashion circuit, this is their first film. Connoisseurs of historic art and design, they collect ancient textiles from across the globe. For the Maharani, they have replicated outfits worn in 13th century Chittor and incorporated some Turkish touches”.

Interestingly, many have tried to take sneaky photos from the sets of the film when it’s been shot at night. However, it seems Bhansali is very clear that he wants to stop that and make sure that nothing is leaked in advance. A source says, “The unit had been filming in Sunil maidan in Film City studio. The opening sequences of both the SLB’s previous films, Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela and Bajirao Mastani, were also filmed there so the locals have taken to calling the grounds ‘Sanjay maidan’ now”.

‘Padmavati’ also stars Ranveer Singh and he will be returning for a shoot on 3rd January 2017.
