Salman Khan confirmed to host ‘Bigg Boss’

Bollywood hunk, Salman Khan has been confirmed as the new host of Colors’ reality TV show ‘Bigg Boss’, the Indian version of ‘Big Brother’.

The news, which was confirmed at a press conference in India earlier indicates that ‘Bigg Boss’ is expected to start in October – around the same time as rival ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 4’.

The interesting piece about this development is seeing both shows start around the same time vying for audiences in the same primetime slot. It was confirmed by Amitabh Bachchan that the new series of ‘KBC’ will commence on Monday 11th October. Colors is yet to confirm the start date of ‘Bigg Boss’.

Earlier the channel had held talks with Bollywood stars Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar to host ‘Bigg Boss’ but were subsequently closed without any positive outcome.

What remains to be seen now is how Sony TV’s show ‘Dus Ka Dum’ will fare as this was expected to start in November but will now have to be put on the backburner because of Salman’s commitments with Colors’.

Speaking about the new season and the new host, Rajesh Kamat, Group COO Viacom18 and CEO Colors, said, “Bigg Boss is one show that cuts across both India as well as Bharat, in popularity and appeal. The coming together of India۪s most wanted۪ superstar with India۪s most wanted reality show only means one thing entertainment extravaganza for Colors۪ viewers.”

Talking of his association with Bigg Boss, Salman Khan, commented, “From all the reality television shows I have seen, Bigg Boss has always intrigued me the most. It is amazing to see how people react under unique circumstances and to what levels they can go to win in a competition. I am a very straight-forward person and am clear as the show۪s host as well, that I will not take any hypocrisy and politics lightly. For those who play clean, they will always find their best friend in me_ those who don۪t, be ready to expect the worst”.

“With Salman as the host, viewers should be prepared in season of Bigg Boss to witness as much action outside the house…as is expected inside. Salman۪s inimitable style, candid persona and exceptional sense of humour is sure to make Bigg Boss Season-4 memorable.” said, Ashvini Yardi, Head Programming, Colors.
