Sabras Radio celebrates 25th anniversary

The Midland’s biggest Asian radio station, Sabras Radio is celebrating its 25th anniversary today.

The station officially started broadcasting on 7th September 1995 and stands currently among the biggest radio brands in the UK.

In a post shared on social media, Raj Baddhan, Director of Sabras Radio said, “Expressing huge gratitude & love to all our well-wishers on helping us complete 25 years of Sabras Radio. Where do I start..

A huge thank you to my brilliant team – including on-air talent, sales staff & production team on reaching this milestone. A bigger thank you to our loyal advertisers/clients that continue to invest & trust the Sabras brand. And the BIGGEST thank you to our dear listeners, who have stuck with us in their droves despite huge competition from rival broadcasters.

While the first couple of decades were a lot more straightforward, there have been many more challenging times in recent years for all broadcasters owing to new stations, change of audience’s lifestyles & new ways of consuming music – despite this, the Sabras brand has stood strong among its rivals. We’ve maintained our focus in providing our listeners with high-end quality programming & we promise to continue to do so!

Unfortunately we were unable to throw our annual Birthday Bash due to the current pandemic but rest assured, a big celebration is on the anvil!

Finally, a big thank you to all my team members (presenters & admin) that have worked with me during my 15 years at Sabras – together we made Sabras what it is now!

Finally, finally… a huge congrats to Don Kotak, who founded Sabras Radio 25 years ago (even though the journey started well before 1995). Don is like a father-figure to me & I’ll be forever be grateful to him for letting me drive the Sabras ship to success over the last 15 years.

Here’s to another 25 years & beyond!

Thank you for 25 years of Sabras! ?”

Sabras Radio was founded by Don Kotak in 1995. It broadcasts to the East Midlands including Leicester, Nottingham, Derby and Coventry. It is available on 1260AM, DAB digital radio, mobile app and online.
