Runjhun Sharma to head Russian Today (RT) India

Veteran journalist Runjhun Sharma, one of RT’s most recognised South Asia correspondents, has officially taken charge as Head of News at RT India. Sharma, who has long been associated with RT’s Moscow bureau, brings years of international reporting experience to the new role, marking a significant step in the channel’s expansion into the Indian media landscape.

The launch of RT India was announced this week during Vladimir Putin’s visit to New Delhi. At a high‑profile ceremony, the Russian President joined RT Editor‑in‑Chief Margarita Simonyan to unveil the channel, underscoring Moscow’s commitment to strengthening media ties with India.

RT India aims to provide a blend of global and local coverage, with Sharma expected to play a pivotal role in shaping its editorial direction. Her appointment signals the network’s intent to establish a strong foothold in South Asia, leveraging her credibility and experience to connect with Indian audiences.
