‘RepresentAsian: An Evening of Asian Talent’ set for West End

A one-night-only concert, ‘RepresentAsian: An Evening of Asian Talent’, will take place on Monday 13th October at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue.

The event will feature Asian musical theatre performers from around the world, alongside new talent making their West End debut.

The concert will also serve as a fundraiser to establish a scholarship for young Asian individuals to train in the arts, in partnership with The Boury Academy and The Right To Be There, founded by US actor Conrad Ricamora.

Ricamora, who will appear as a special guest, is known for his work on Broadway and television, including ‘How To Get Away With Murder’. The cast also includes Joanna Ampil (‘Phantom of the Opera’), Frances Mayli McCann (‘The Great Gatsby’), Desmonda Cathabel (‘Hadestown’), Joe Thompson-Oubari (‘Wicked’), Talia Palamathanan (‘Back to the Future’), Parisa Shahmir (‘Jesus Christ Superstar’) and El Haq Latief (‘Cabaret’). Nina Wadia will host the evening.

The creative team features Ben Armstrong as casting director, Amy Hsu as musical director, and Natalie Pound as musical supervisor, with designs by Ghostlight Productions and branding by House of Kais. The concert is produced by Aixa Amarante Productions.

Ben Armstrong says, “Representation matters a great deal to me, as a mixed race Sri Lankan individual, and I want to give back to the Asian community. Providing access and opportunities to young people is how to widen the talent pool, strengthen representation and hopefully inspire others to commit to inclusivity and diversity in the arts. I can’t wait to share this show with a West End audience.”
