Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ banned from release in Gulf nations
The Ranveer Singh‑starrer ‘Dhurandhar’ has been barred from release in all Gulf nations, continuing a trend of Indian political‑action films facing restrictions in the Middle East.
Inspired by real events, the film follows an Indian spy who infiltrates Pakistani gangs to gather intelligence on potential attacks against India. Despite enjoying a strong theatrical run domestically, the film has now been banned in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Industry reports suggest the narrative was deemed controversial, with concerns that it could be perceived as “anti‑Pakistan.” Similar films have previously struggled to secure clearance in the region, and although the makers attempted submission, none of the Gulf countries approved its release.
