As we reported some time back, Priyanka Chopra along side her international album, was meant to sing in her films Barfi!۪ and Zanjeer۪ too. However, due to her international music contractual agreements, Chopra will not be able to make her Bollywood singing debut as early as she۪d hoped.
Apparently Pritam the music director of her upcoming Barfi!۪ wanted her to lend her voice to a song in which she expresses her love for the title character played by Ranbir Kapoor. However due to a legal roadblock he may have to find an alternative recording artiste at very short notice.
Word is that Chopra has signed a worldwide recording agreement with Universal Music and Desi Hits, and as such cannot lend her voice to any other project till her music album sees the light of day.
“One song in Barfi! is still to be recorded. That’s the one where Priyanka expresses her take on life and her feelings towards Ranbir. But Pritam’s desire ended up becoming a distant dream, said a source to The Times of India.
“Pritam was disappointed but he could do nothing about it. Now, the song will be sung by someone else, it could even be a newcomer. That again will be Pritam’s call,” continued the source.
Chopra۪s international album will be released in North America with Desi Hits through Interscope Records and in other international markets on UK’s Island Records. The album will contain ten pop songs and will release worldwide, towards the end of this year.
