'Goodness Gracious Me' proves hit for Sony SAB TV

The first episode of classic Brit-Asian comedy sketch ‘Goodness Gracious Me’ proved a huge hit for Sony SAB TV last night.

According to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia, ‘Goodness Gracious Me’ was watched by 64,000 at 20:30 – the biggest ever ratings for a single show on the channel. It peaked at 73,000. The channel has slowly been revamping its schedule by including classic sitcoms and dramas from its flagship channel Sony Entertainment Television Asia.

Over on Star Plus, the semi-final of ‘Nach Baliye’ remained the most watched show in the UK on Sunday. It was viewed by 268,600 viewers – peaking at a record 369,400 viewers at 21:00. ‘Arjun’ at 20:00 last night attracted 68,700 viewers and the Star Guild Awards special episode at 18:00 garnered 56,100 viewers.

On Rishtey, Pakistani drama from Hum TV ‘Humsafar’ was the most watched show on the channel with 35,500 viewers – the best ever audience for the imported drama. The Mirchi Music Awards at 17:30 got 28,800 viewers and ‘Shaitaan’ at 21:30 was watched by 8,200 viewers.
