KJo surrenders ‘Immortals of Meluha’ rights to SLB?

For some times, it was being said that Dharma Productions’ ‘Shuddhi’ would be based on the book ‘Immortals of Meluha’. Now, in a blow for Karan Johar, it appears Sanjay Leela Bhansali will be putting the story on celluloid.

Mid-Day reports that Johar’s team were unable to put a script together for the project, which was due to star Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt. Bhansali, it seems, has expressed an interest and therefore it appears that Johar had to surrender the rights of the book.

Amish Tripathi, who wrote the bestseller, has chosen not to comment. However a source said, “His contract with Karan expired recently, so Dharma had to surrender the rights to the book”.
