Their alliance has been ongoing for some time but now Karan Johar has decided to break away from his association with UTV. News has it that he has given the theatrical rights to four forthcoming Dharma Productions films to good friend and husband of Raveena Tandon, Anil Thadani.

Dharma Productions produced ‘Gori Tere Pyar Mein’, ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’, ‘Ungli’ and an untitled project have India-wide theatrical rights now with Thadani. An insider told Mumbai Mirror, “The deal struck is to the tune of Rs 100 crore. Anil and Karan were casually discussing… and within minutes, both had struck a deal… Even the money was not debated much”.

Although UTV chose not to comment on the shift, the insider insisted there was no problem between Johar and UTV but purely that Johar had decided to award the rights to Thadani this time round.
