Kabir Khan defends ‘Phantom’ after ban in Pakistan

Khan's next film about student days
Kabir Khan

Kabir Khan has seen great success with his last movie, ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, which released in June. In contrast, his forthcoming film ‘Phantom’ seems to be grabbing the headlines for all the wrong reasons. A Pakistan court, a few days ago, banned the release of the film. Khan has since explained that the film is purely fictional.

Talking to Deccan Chronicle, the director said, “Thanks to Hafiz Saeed, the world press has descended on me. I just hope my life is not under threat. My wife is genuinely nervous. I hope my country will protect me”.

“It is just a film. A political thriller no doubt, provocative (too) but at the end of the day, it۪s fictional. The political angle is part of the script. We don۪t claim to follow the political ideology of the characters in the film,” he commented.

The film is based on the 26/11 terrorist attacks which happened in Mumbai.

It’s scheduled for release this coming Friday 28th August.
