Jiah Khan’s case to be next heard on 20th April

After the submission of the list of witnesses for the Jiah Khan case last month, the City Civil and Sessions Court was supposed to hear the matter on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, the case didn’t proceed as the judge KD Shirbhate was reportedly on leave.

Sooraj Pancholi, who has been charged with abutment of suicide under section 306 of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) was present, along with his lawyer Prashant Patil, reports DNA India. While Rabiya Khan (Jiah’s mother) was in London, she was represented by her lawyers. In lieu of the judge being on leave, the next hearing has been scheduled for 20th April.

As for her petitions in the High Court — one for the findings of the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) to be incorporated in the charge sheet and the other against sudden removal of the previous prosecutor — which the judge asked to be tagged together, is said to be heard mid-April. Rabiya, in a text message from London, said, “The honourable judge mentioned the Sessions Court become a fact finder (sic).”
