Janhvi Kapoor slams online trolls targeting brother Arjun Kapoor
Janhvi Kapoor has spoken out against online trolling culture, criticising the harassment directed at her brother, Arjun Kapoor, and describing the emotional toll such behaviour can take.
Reflecting on the darker side of social media, Janhvi acknowledged that while criticism is inevitable in the public eye, there is a line that should not be crossed. “Of course, it hurts to feel misunderstood or when it turns into bullying and harassment, the way I’ve seen happen with my brother sometimes and there’s no excuse for that kind of behaviour. Negativity fuels negativity and you just have to remove yourself from it,” she said.
The actress went on to analyse what she perceives as the driving force behind online hostility. “From what I understand about social media culture, is that everyone wants prominence, views and virality, so if they are making content about you, you’re just a scapegoat, they’re just using your name for clickbait, rage bait and whatever else it is to further their engagement,” she explained.

Janhvi suggested that recognising this dynamic has helped her navigate criticism more constructively. “That’s the only purpose you serve, and once you look at it from that lens, you understand that what they’re saying about you has nothing to do with you. Then you start taking that less to your heart,” she added.
Her comments come amid ongoing conversations about digital accountability and the impact of online abuse on public figures. While acknowledging that scrutiny is part of celebrity life, Janhvi’s remarks underline the distinction between fair criticism and targeted harassment, calling for greater responsibility within online discourse.
