India ratings: Sony TV surges but Star Plus leads

Sony Entertainment Television Asia has done it again by delivering a record high for its gameshow ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ but Star Plus maintains lead.

According to Week 45 of 2011 data from TAM, the two episodes featuring Sushil Kumar’s huge Rs 5 Crore win on the gameshow registered 7.2 and 8 TVR on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively. The show has become the highest TRP grosser among all weekday shows since ‘Uttaran’ on Colors in 2009.

With the helping of ‘KBC’, Sony TV has broken its own record by delivering 287 GRPs (last week 235.9).

Star Plus surpassed all its rivals by steaming ahead with 335 GRPs (last week 273).

Colors was also up this week touching 240 GRPs (last week 236). ZEE TV settled for fourth position again with 143 GRPs (last week 131).

In the bottom tier came SAB TV in fifth with 121 GRPS (last week 118) and Imagine TV in sixth with 70 GRPs this week (last week 61).

Amongst the top shows, no surprise but ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ leads with 6.4 TVR, ‘Saathiya’ next with 6.2 TVR, ‘Balika Badhu’ in third with 4.7 TVR, ‘Crime Patrol’ in fourth with 4.1 TVR and Star Plus’ ‘Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon’ in fifth with 4.0 TVR.
