India ratings: Awards take STAR Plus back to top

The recently shown STAR Parivaar Awards have given STAR Plus a ratings boost, taking it back to the coveted numero uno position.

According to data for Week 24 – 13th June provided by TAM, the audience measuring body in India, STAR Plus leads the way with 266 GRPS, a rise from last week’s 246 GRPs. The STAR Parivaar Awards attracted a TVR of 5.7 TVR, which added an incremental 37 GRPs. However, STAR Plus’ primetime GRPs continued to slide from 107 last week to 100 GRPs this week.

Former number one channel, Colors, has had to settle for number two with 232 GRPs, from last week’s 270 GRPs.

Whilst ZEE TV’s new shows (‘Agle Janam…’, ‘Aap Ki Antra’, ‘Pavitra Rishta’ and ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa: Lil Champs) continue to do well, its ratings fell by a margin from last week’s 235 GRPs to 221 as it stands now.

NDTV Imagine sits comfortably at number four with 104 GRPs. Its closest rival Sony Entertainment Television Asia shows no signs of recovery. The channel lost more GRPs this week from 90 last week to 82 now. Sony TV is hoping its huge reality show ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here’ starting on Monday 6th July proves a ratings winner.

Other numbers for week 24 include SAB at 66, STAR One at 52, Sahara One at 32, STAR Utsav at 23, 9X at 21 and Real at 14.
