Huge numbers access BBC’s mela coverage

The BBC is jubilant today after its ‘Summer of Melas’ coverage through the interactive Red Button facility recorded huge numbers.

Figures released today showed 810,000 views were recorded from people pressing their Red Button or going online to watch highlights from the summer melas.

The ‘Summer of Melas’ includes performances from Melas around the UK where the BBC’s Asian Network broadcasted from – including London, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Manchester. The highlights feature stars like H-Dhami, Sukshinder Shinda, B21 and Outlandish.

The compilations of highlights from the summer of melas has been screened on the Red Button and online for seven days (17th – 23rd August) giving fans all over the UK a chance to catch the performances.
