There are many actors within the film industry, who dream for their name to be called out, where they rise from their seat in a magnificent auditorium, smiling, hugging those near them before climbing a few steps to receive a heavy award, and standing in front of a microphone to thank all those who supported them in order for them to get to this stage. However there are a few who don’t have this dream at all, and simply dream of working in different films. One of those is Emraan Hashmi, who is known for the rather unconventional projects, and feels in doing so he is gaining more than just an award.

Stepping into the genre of horror in particular, the media caught up with the actor in light of his recentVikram Bhatt directorial ‘Raaz Reboot’ (2016), which is of the same genre. Not being a very popular category with filmmakers, Hashmi spoke about why he decides to step into such films, asFilmfare reported him explaining, “I am not doing a horror film thinking I۪ll win the best actor award. I am doing it because of the experience it gives me.”

He went on to say, “I think many stars don۪t find the horror genre challenging. Performance is not something which is associated with horror. You will not see horror film at the Oscars in the best film list. At the same time, you cannot negate its place at the box-office.”

The actor also spoke about not having enough film makers make such films. “Maybe mainstream stars don۪t understand the genre, don۪t like it. It is seen as a very limited genre. There are only one or two directors, who make it. No one makes horror. If there were more scripts floating around, with more directors, it would be good,” he explained.

‘Raaz Reboot’ which also stars south actress Kriti Kharbanda and Gaurav Arora, released this week. The film has received mixed reviews.
