Diljit Dosanjh receives Emmy Award nomination for ‘Chamkila’

Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh has received an International Emmy Award nomination for his critically acclaimed performance in ‘Chamkila’, the biopic of legendary Punjabi folk singer Amar Singh Chamkila. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film has been lauded for its raw storytelling, evocative music, and Dosanjh’s deeply immersive portrayal.

Set in 1980s Punjab, ‘Chamkila’ explores the life and legacy of the controversial artist whose music resonated with millions while challenging societal norms. Dosanjh’s performance has been hailed as one of his finest, capturing both the charisma and vulnerability of the iconic singer.

Reacting to the news, director Imtiaz Ali congratulated Dosanjh, saying he was “immensely proud” of the actor’s recognition on the global stage and praised his dedication to the role.
