Conversation between Arnab Goswami & ex-CEO of BARC India go viral

Republic TV’s Arnab Goswami Whatsapp conversation with the former CEO of BARC India, Partho Dasgupta has gone viral online.

It is worth adding that Dasgupta was arrested over the scandal surrounding news channel ratings in India. The conversation formed a part of Mumbai police’s 3,600-page supplementary chargesheet in the TRP scam, Times of India reports.

The report states that part of the conversation showed the executives making suggestions to Republic TV on strategies to boost ratings. Dasgupta’s lawyer maintains that there was a board of directors and a disciplinary committee above him so he could not manipulate the rating system.

It further adds that Goswami kept Dasgupta informed about government affairs, including the workings of the information & broadcasting ministry, cabinet reshuffle, appointment of secretaries, and more.

Dasgupta is in judicial custody.
