Confirmed: Sahara One to become free from June

BizAsia.co.ukcan exclusively reveal that Sahara One is turning free-to-air permanently on Sky Digital on Friday 1st June.

The Hindi entertainment channel, which has been a part of the VIEWASIA for the past few years will be leaving the bundle to become an independent channel.

A source at the channel confirmed toBizAsia.co.ukabout the move.

It was revealed earlier onBizAsia.co.ukthat VIEWASIA is getting set for a major change with a couple of the services planning to turn free or standalone pay channels.

Along with Sahara One, SAB TV and Aaj Tak are toying with the idea of switching to free-to-air models. ARY Digital is also likely to leave VIEWASIA.

According to sources, VIEWASIA is set to become a smaller package with Sony Entertainment Television Asia, MAX, Colors and B4U Movies remaining as a bundle. This, however is still being discussed and not confirmed. The new VIEWASIA bouquet will no doubt compete directly with ZEE Network with a lower price.

This is the first major change since Rajan Singh defected to Star UK from Multi Screen Media Asia and the appointment of Tony Lit at Sony TV Asia as VP Business Head for Europe, under the helm of Neeraj Arora, Executive Vice President Head of International Business.
