Confirmed: Friction’s new show on the Asian Network

Biz Asia has done it again, as revealed first earlier this week, the BBC has confirmed that Bobby Friction will indeed be taking over the 22:00 late night slot on the Asian Network when current presenter Adil Ray moves to Drive.

Frictions new week-night show will be right at the forefront of a new specialist-edged Asian Network, and represents a radical change in the station’s approach to an increasingly multi-genred British-Asian music scene.

The three-hour weeknight slot will air Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings. Bobby will be unable to present on Wednesday because of his commitmemts with BBC Radio One with co-presenter Nihal. It is unknown who will present on the Asian Network on Wednesday nights.

Bobby has broadcast widely on the Asian Network and has brought his infectious presenting style to the album chart and recently The Mix. He starts his new slot in May, amidst a revised Asian network schedule.

Bobby Friction said: I۪m really happy but more importantly proud to have been take on this pivotal role and show on the Asian Network. My job along with all my peers on the station will quite simply be to make the Asian Network the home of British Asian music.۝

Asian Network Controller Bob Shennan said :۝This shows the scale of the ambition that we have added Bobby to a very strong new line up on the station. I think the Network can be one of the key radio youth brands around. Bobby is a fantastic broadcaster and a key part of our new music strategy championing the best of new British Asian talent.۝
