Bride & Prejudice storms to top of UK Box Office

The much awaited Gurinder Chadha blockbuster Bride & Prejudice released last Friday to huge fanfare and by the looks of things, the hype has been well worth it. The Brit-Asian flick has earned its place at the top of the UK box office chart beating stiff competition from the likes of other big movies such as Saw and Wimbledon.

The figures released today showed that the film collected an average of 1,667,616 in its opening weekend, slightly lower than Gurinder’s previous hit Bend It Like Beckham.

The movie may have opened to a good start but will it be able to sustain the success shown so far with the power of Aishwarya Rai’s gorgeous looks and her English dialect. The film has been panned by some UK critics and even some Indian journalists.
