Box Office: ‘Super 30’ makers zero in on new release date?

After Hrithik Roshan asked the makers of his next movie ‘Super 30’ to change the release date avoid clashing with Kangana Ranaut’s next ‘Mental Hai Kya’, many were waiting to see which date would be the new one. It’s emerged that the new date could well be locked now.

Rumour has it that the new release date is 12th July, according to Filmfare. If true, it would mean the Vikas Bahl directorial would be clashing with ‘Jabariya Jodi’, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra.

A source explained, “With July 12 being finalized, the film will have a clear run at the box office with competition coming in only from Jabariya Jodi. However, given that both Super 30 and Jabariya Jodi cater to two very different audience bases, neither film will be affected much at the box office.” The film was initially supposed to release on January 26 this year, however when director Vikas Bahl was accused of sexual harassment during the MeToo movement, the date was pushed indefinitely. Later on, the release date was changed again from July 26 to avoid a clash with Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao’s Mental Hai Kya. Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chandel had accused Hrithik and the team Super 30 of running a PR campaign against Mental Hai Kya. Following this, Hrithik decided to change the release date as a decision to save himself from “personal trauma and toxic mental violence”.
