Box Office: Reema Kagti’s ‘Superboys of Malegaon’ set for UK release

MetFilm Distribution, in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, has announced that ‘Superboys of Malegaon’ will be released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on Friday 28th February.

The Indian comedy, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and had its European debut at the BFI London Film Festival, is directed by Reema Kagti (‘Dahaad, Talaash’). The cast includes BAFTA-nominated Adarsh Gourav (‘The White Tiger’), Vineet Kumar Singh (‘The Brawler’), and Shashank Arora (‘Made in Heaven’).

Inspired by the 2008 documentary ‘Supermen of Malegaon’, the film tells the story of Nasir Shaikh, an aspiring filmmaker in the small town of Malegaon. In a place where Bollywood provides an escape from daily life, Nasir sets out to create a film for and by the people of Malegaon. As he rallies a group of friends to bring his vision to life, the film explores the struggles and triumphs of indie filmmaking, friendship, and the pursuit of dreams against all odds.

With its heartwarming underdog narrative, ‘Superboys of Malegaon’ is a tribute to the magic of movies and the passion of grassroots storytellers.
