Box Office: ‘Dhoom 3’ has record-breaking opening day

Yesterday’s release ‘Dhoom 3’, as reported by BizAsia, was set to have a huge opening day at the domestic box office. Indeed, the film has become the film with the biggest ever opening for a non-holiday release.

As confirmed by Hindustan Times, the film collected 36.22 crores on its first day. Talking about the popularity of the movie, Gautam Dutta, COO, PVR Cinemas, said, “It is an extraordinary movie. Big names like Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif are part of this Yash Raj film. It was also hyped by Bollywood fraternity. We got Rs.3.5 crore worth pre-booking. On day one, there was over 90 percent occupancy”.

‘Dhoom 3’ released in 4000 screens in the sub-continent and has received somewhat mixed reviews from critics across the globe.
