BBC Asian Network launches 90s Bollywood song vote

BBC Asian Network has launched the search for the listeners favourite 90s Bollywood song.

Listeners are now able to vote for their favourite 90s song with voting opened today until Friday 17th May.

From an incredible decade in Hindi cinema, a shortlist of 50 tracks have been collated by a panel of network presenters – Haroon Rashid, Nikita Kanda, Gagan Grewal, and Nadia Ali – and industry experts – Asim Burney, Amrita Tanna, and Karan Pangali – to cover the biggest hits across party anthems, love songs, super hits and of course choreographed numbers.

Listeners can tune in to a special countdown show with Nikita Kanda & Haroon Rashid from 7am on Friday 31 May 2024, where they will be revealing the winner of the Ultimate 90s Bollywood Song on Asian Network and BBC Sounds.

Haroon Rashid says: “90’s Bollywood encapsulates everything we love about Hindi cinema – romance, drama, action, comedy – and music is at the very heart of it all. The songs and melodies of the 90’s are among the most iconic of all time. Hearing just the first few seconds of any of those songs can evoke such huge nostalgia and yet the compositions still sound so fresh and current. This is one of the most exciting votes we’ve ever done at Asian Network and I can’t wait to find out which anthem the listeners crown as the Ultimate 90’s Bollywood Song.”
