Akshay Kumar was one of the first stars to get back to work as soon as the lockdown was lifted to allow filming to continue. He jumped right back in with new film, ‘Bell Bottom,’ and started shooting in London. The film was completed in 35 days. The spy thriller was set to release in April 2021. However, according to online reports, the makers are now planning to move their release date from April to June 2021.
Filmfare reports this decision is taken because ‘Sooryavanshi,’ which also stars Kumar and directed by Rohit Shetty, will release in March. A source said, “The makers have decided to now delay the film by two months and bring it in June. The primary reason for the delay has got to do with the fact that Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi is looking to release in the one-month window of March 15 to April 15. It would be stupid to bring two Akshay Kumar films in a span of 30 days on the big screen, particularly in between this pandemic.”
‘Sooryavanshi’ was also a victim of the pandemic. It was supposed to release last year in March. But due to the lockdown, the film’s theatrical release was put on hold.
‘Bell Bottom’ is a period thriller and also stars Vaani Kapoor, Huma Qureshi and Lara Dutta.
