Birthday Love: Anushka Sharma’s characters that turned dreams into reality

There is something different about this actress as a whole. When you watch her interviews you sense that there is a certain peacefulness around her. There is no jealousy and she is very much content with life and her career. One word to describe her would definitely be positive.

This actress is none other than the bubbly Anushka Sharma who on the 1st May will be celebrating her 33rd birthday. What better way to celebrate this lady than by looking back at some of her roles that showed a woman who wanted to make her dreams a reality.

Shruti in ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ (2010)
Shruti (Sharma) had always been clear about what she wanted to do with her life. She wanted to start her own business which she had named ‘Shaadi Mubarak’. In her words, her dream was to become the best wedding planner in India. Her aim being to make two individual’s wedding day be the best day of their lives.

She was so serious about what she wanted to accomplish that she had made a set of rules her business would always follow, one of which was to always be honest. Shruti even had a little scrapbook which contained all her ideas and themes which she hoped to use one day. She had some experience and at the same time she kept up to date with her research to see what trends were in. Shruti was always determined, all she needed was a chance to prove her talent which luckily she gets.

Farah in ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ (2015)
Fearless Farah (Sharma) tells her story about how she left Birmingham with around two hundred pounds and headed to London to begin her journey of a dancer. She knew that she was born to dance because ever since she was a child whenever she heard music she couldn’t stop herself from dancing. It was something she loved to do however her family didn’t agree with her passion for dance. Unable to convince them she ended up leaving home and after moving to London she worked odd jobs so that she could pay for dance school. At times she had no place to stay and she struggled greatly but she continued to strive to make her dream come true.

Alizeh in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ (2016)
Alizeh (Sharma) is the life of the party, she knows how to enjoy every moment that comes her way. Her sarcasm may offend some while some may be captivated by her sense of honesty. Her love for films and her three wishes that she wants to tick off her bucket list reveal the child in her. Alizeh goes through many ups and downs in her life but somehow manages to find the strength to carry on with a smile. For her life isn’t about the past or the present it’s about making the most of the time she has now and making memories. Thanks to her friend Ayan (Ranbir Kapoor) she gets to have her three wishes fulfilled one of which was to re enact one Bollywood song wearing a sari.

Aafia in ‘Zero’ (2018)
A scientist who didn’t let her disability stop her from achieving what she wanted in life. Aafia (Sharma) requires the help of an electric wheelchair to help her move from place to place but it was her strength to not give up and her curious mind that made her the woman she was. Aafia states in one scene that it was her who said that NSAR should send a rover to Mars to know more about the planet. Her aim has been to know more and more about the planet and she even suggested sending a person there for research purposes.

Akira in ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ (2012)
A girl who believes she is no less than anyone else. Akira (Sharma) has the talent, the looks and the brains to achieve anything she wants. Her dream of working for the Discovery channel is something that she has always wanted to do and vows to do whatever it takes to fulfil that dream. When given the assignment of working with the bomb disposal squad Akira jumps with excitement. Where others may fear that they could lose their lives while working in such dangerous conditions, Akira walks towards the danger literally, to capture every exciting moment in her camera.
