Birthday Love: 5 eye-catching songs of Katrina Kaif

She has attained the title of the most hard working actress in Bollywood because of the way she prepares for her films. Not only this she has been praised for her choice of films as well as her passion for dance.

In the 2008 film ‘Race’ she managed to capture the eyes of the audience with the dance number Zara Zara touch me and Khwaab dekhe. What did the audiences know that this was just a sample of this actresses talent.

16th July is the birthday of Katrina Kaif and to mark the occasion BizAsiaLive.com will look at five songs where the audience just couldn’t keep their eyes off of her.

Sheila Ki Jawani from ‘Tees Maar Khan’ (2010)
It was a cheesy item number yet it managed to work and till date is regarded as Kaif’s most popular item numbers. Farah Khan who directed the film wanted to create a sensation with this song which happened but she was probably unaware of how big this song would turn out to be.

Sunidhi Chauhan sang for Kaif while Vishal and Shekhar made this song a hit with their qawali and hip hop sounds.

It was the first time that Kaif was doing belly dancing therefore she trained with Veronica D Souza to ensure she got her moves on point. The song became a rage with Kaif’s perfectly sculpted body swaying like never before. The audience was able to see that Kaif had what it took to compete with other actresses in terms of talent and dedication.

Chikni Chameli from ‘Agneepath’ (2012)
The song became an instant hit but what helped make it what it is today is due to Kaif and choreographer Ganesh Archarya. When the song appeared on TV many were shocked to see the modern Kaif transform into a desi girl. The way she performed on this song it reminded one of the song mungada from ‘Inkaar’ (1978) which was performed on by Helen.

It had a catchy beat which was infectious in terms of whoever heard it couldn’t control their feet. Shreya Ghoshal sang for Kaif with Ajay-Atul creating the music.

Archarya aware of how good a dancer Kaif is decided to portray her in a way like never seen before. The dance moves were totally different than what she had done in the past but it was Archarya’s faith and guidance that helped her to do her best. The energy in Kaif’s dance was full on and the expressions she gave were intense, it would be hard to imagine any other actress dancing to this song after seeing Kaif.

Mashallah from ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ (2012)
When you want the best you have to call the best therefore Vaibhavi Merchant was asked to choreograph this song. Merchant had Kaif experiment with her dance moves as the song had a middle eastern theme to it. There was one move in particular known as taksim maya which is a type of curve. That very sequence had the viewer entranced as Kaif was seen doing a dance move which is usually done while stood up. Truly Kaif likes to do something unique in every song she does.

A lot of care was taken while creating Kaif’s look which consisted of minimal silver jewellery with flowy skirts. It not only made Kaif look exotic but the middle eastern theme could be sensed.

Once again Ghoshal sang for Kaif and Wajid Ali sang for Salman Khan.

Kamli from ‘Dhoom 3’ (2013)
Some would say that Kaif didn’t have much of a role in this film compared to her co stars Aamir Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. However the scenes that she did appear in were impressive especially the songs that she performed on. Kamli is one song in which Aaliya (Kaif) is given a chance to prove her talent. She has a couple of minutes to perform and in that time she has to make sure that she doesn’t lose the attention of Sahir (Khan).

Kaif sure did impress the audience, her performance was incredible and the hard work could be seen. The choreography of the song wasn’t all that simple as there were many complicated moves. Hats off to Kaif for being able to bring the choreographer’s vision alive through her dance.

The song was a mixture of hip hop with the beauty of sufism all rolled into one. Chauhan’s vocals were absolutely superb for Kaif so it is no wonder the song was such a hit when it first released.

Kala Chashma from ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ (2016)
Kaif set the stage alight with her fiery performance in kala chashma alongside Sidharth Malhotra. Truth be told when Malhotra and Kaif were on screen together all eyes were on her because she looked amazing. Kaif’s new toned look had everybody mesmerised be it other celebrities or her fans, people were praising her left right and centre.

Originally by Prem Hardeep this version had Neha Kakkar, Badshah, Indeep Bakshi and Amar Arshi’s vocals in the Punjabi number. Set at a wedding when the song begins Kaif and Malhotra are seen in an Indian wedding attire which is very traditional but when the beat kicks in, they change into outfits that are both modern yet desi at the same time.

The song quickly became popular and was featured at almost every event be it a party or a Mehndi as it was so upbeat and fun. Kaif proved that with her every film she is setting a new standard for herself.

BizAsiaLive.com wishes Kaif a very happy birthday and all the best for her recent release ‘Jagga Jasoos’.
