Big FM signs content deal with BBC World Service

Reliance Media’s Big FM has signed a deal with BBC World Service for providing entertainment updates across 33 of the stations available nationally in India.

The partnership allows for the entertainment updates from BBC to reach out to the audiences across the country, Reliance Media World said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

Big FM listeners can listen to BBC World Service programmes like ‘Big BBC Minute’, ‘Big BBC Mulaqat’ and a weekly entertainment film preview show, it added.

“This takes our position in the market to a new level as BBC World Service programming will be accessible in several Indian states and cities for the first time ever,” BBC World Service Head of Business Development (Asia Pacific) Neil Curry said.

“This alliance further strengthens our programming concoction offering to listeners,” Big 92.7 FM Chief Executive Officer Tarun Katiyal said.

Big FM reaches cities like Agra, Ajmer, Aligarh, Allahbad, Amritsar, Asansol, Kota, Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata.

Recently Big FM said it was exploring the idea of launching in international markets like the UK and USA.
