BBC News channel launches on YouTube in the UK & USA

The BBC has announced that its BBC News channel will be available to stream live on YouTube in the UK and United States from today, as part of efforts to expand access to its journalism across digital platforms.

The move will provide viewers with live coverage of international and domestic news, political developments, business, technology, culture and breaking stories, drawing on the BBC News network of journalists and correspondents around the world.

The UK and US join a growing list of markets where the BBC News channel is available on YouTube, alongside Australia, Kenya, Nigeria and Poland.

The broadcaster said the launch forms part of its wider YouTube strategy aimed at reaching new and younger audiences and making its news content available on platforms that audiences use regularly.

Anjali Kapoor, Director of AI, Innovation and Growth for BBC News, said: “Audiences increasingly expect news to be available wherever they are, on the platforms they use throughout their day. Launching the BBC News channel on YouTube in the UK and US is an important step in bringing our trusted journalism to even more people. It will make it easier for audiences to access live coverage of the stories shaping our world, while helping us reach new audiences in the places and at the times that work best for them.”

Alison Lomax, Managing Director of YouTube UK, added: “It is an incredible milestone that YouTube’s audiences in the UK, US, Australia, Kenya, Nigeria and Poland can now access BBC’s live news channel, making trusted news even more accessible to a new generation of digital first viewers”.
