The BBC Asian Network has announced a poll to find the nation۪s favourite Bollywood song, as part of the station’s season of programming to celebrate 100 years of Bollywood.

A team including presenters and producers, as well as a panel of experts, have shortlisted 100 songs from the World of Hindi Cinema released between 1940 – 2010, and will be asking the Asian Network audience to vote for their favourite.

The panel compiling the 100 songs included Asian Network presenters, Raj and Pablo and Noreen Khan, British Indian rapper and hip hop singer, Hard Kaur, Bollywood film expert, Dr Rajinder Dudrah and Indian film critic and entertainment reporter, Rajeev Masand.

Once all the votes have been compiled and counted, one track will be crowned the greatest Bollywood song of all time on Monday 27th May.

Neila Butt, Editor Music and Live Events adds, “Bollywood is a hugely popular industry with a worldwide fan base. It is wonderful that the Asian Network is highlighting the genre۪s most loved songs and giving listeners the opportunity to vote for their favourite. It۪ll be interesting to see who makes it to the top spot.”

Voting closes on Friday 10th May.
