Badshah faces arrest and passport seizure over controversial ‘Tateeree’ song in India

Indian rapper Badshah is embroiled in a legal storm after his latest track ‘Tateeree’ sparked outrage for allegedly offensive content and derogatory depictions of women.

The controversy escalated after he failed to appear before the Haryana State Commission for Women, prompting the panel to issue an arrest directive.

In a strong move, the commission has also instructed authorities to seize Badshah’s passport, effectively preventing him from leaving the country while the matter is investigated. The order signals the seriousness of the complaints and the commission’s determination to hold the artist accountable.

Badshah’s team insists that no official summons was received and has suggested the backlash may have political undertones. Meanwhile, the music video has already been removed from streaming platforms amid growing public criticism.

Despite the legal pressure, Badshah has a scheduled concert in London on 22nd March, and as things currently stand, the performance is expected to go ahead.
