Ayan Mukerji no longer directing ‘Dhoom 4’?

Director Ayan Mukerji will no longer helm the much-anticipated action film ‘Dhoom 4’, according to industry sources. The decision follows reported challenges surrounding ‘War 2’, prompting Mukerji to reassess his involvement with the Yash Raj Films (YRF) action franchise.

Instead, Mukerji is redirecting his efforts towards his own creative universe, the Astraverse, and is now fully committed to developing ‘Brahmastra 2’. The move has sparked speculation about who will take over the director’s role for ‘Dhoom 4’, which is expected to star Ranbir Kapoor.

Insiders suggest that Mukerji held a private discussion with YRF head Aditya Chopra, where he expressed his desire to focus on projects that allow for deeper storytelling, emotional resonance, and visual spectacle. He reportedly felt that the tone and structure of films like ‘War 2’ and ‘Dhoom 4’ did not align with his filmmaking sensibilities.

Further announcements regarding the new director for ‘Dhoom 4’ are awaited.
