Amazon MX Player unveils new crime drama ‘Kaptaan’ featuring Saqib Saleem
Amazon MX Player has introduced its latest crime drama, ‘Kaptaan’, a series set in the tense environment of Jwalabad. The drama follows SSP Samardeep, played by Saqib Saleem, an encounter specialist whose methods and motivations sit firmly in the grey areas of policing. The cast also includes Siddharth Nigam, Anjumm Shharma, Kavita Kaushik, Poojaa Gor and Anushka Kaushik. The series is directed by Jatin Wagle and produced by Baweja Studios.
Saleem described the appeal of the role by noting that the character’s presence “does not rely on theatrics” and that Samardeep “operates from a deeply personal place”, making him more complex than a conventional action‑driven protagonist. He added that the character’s restrained dialogue and internal conflict were central to his performance.

Reflecting on his work with co‑star Poojaa Gor, Saleem said she brought “a sense of calm” to the set and that their off‑screen discussions helped shape the layered relationship portrayed on screen.
